Most resale sites verify tickets with a checkbox and a refund form. Bidwave Shield is five enforcement layers built into how the marketplace itself works — a listing that hasn't passed them cannot exist on the site at all.
Bidwave Ticket Authentication — we read, validate and register the ticket
Every upload is opened and read by machine. TicketDNA decodes the barcodes (QR, PDF417, Aztec, Code128) and validates what they contain — issuer serial formats, signed tokens and their expiry, live issuer URLs, placeholder values. It fingerprints every barcode image perceptually so re-saved, resized or screenshotted copies still match, reads the printed row and seat to catch the same seat listed twice, detects issuer digital signatures and files created after the event, and cross-checks artist, date, venue and section against the listing. Every barcode is registered on a permanent ledger.
Why it matters: A ticket can only ever exist once on Bidwave — not as a copy, not re-rendered, not under another seller. Each ticket receives a 0–100 authentication score before a person reviews it, and every authenticated ticket gets a public certificate the buyer can open.
Proof before listing
A listing does not exist on Bidwave until the actual ticket file has been uploaded, fingerprinted and passed forensic checks — modification history, origin software, embedded code.
Why it matters: Speculative selling — listing tickets the seller doesn't have yet, the single biggest source of resale horror stories — is structurally impossible here. If you can see it, it exists.
Verified sellers
Every third-party seller is identity-verified before their first listing goes live, and every listing passes human review on top of the automated forensics.
Why it matters: A real name and a real liability sit behind every ticket. Anonymous drive-by selling doesn't happen on Bidwave.
Escrowed payouts
Sellers are paid 5–8 business days after the event takes place — never before you've walked through the doors.
Why it matters: Selling a bad ticket on Bidwave pays exactly zero. The economic incentive for fraud is removed at the root, which protects you better than any detection ever could.
Verified-entry scores + the Guarantee
The day after every show we ask each buyer one question: did your ticket get you in? Answers build a verified-entry record for every seller, shown on their listings. And if anything went wrong: every cent back, no debate.
Why it matters: Trust here is earned at real doors, not bought with badges — and the last layer of any honest system is a guarantee we actually pay.
Why not just use the big sites?
The biggest resale platforms let sellers list tickets they don't yet hold, and price-capped fan-to-fan sites are safe but empty the moment a show sells out. Bidwave is built to be both: verified like the safest, stocked like the biggest — every listing real before it's visible, every seller paid only after you're inside.
